Recall the strategy?
I have to tidy up my room before I can play on my tablet
Yes, it is time to clean up.
This little conversation between my daughter and Myself was fairly clear to me in my adult mind. Not a lot of things could go wrong with this. I left her room for a call and returned after 30 minutes. You may probably predict what I discovered: the room was left untouched
In addition, I clearly heard a sound coming from my hallway and I instantly knew she was on youtube. My chest was tight, and I could feel my palms sweat. I might have said the first thing that sprang to me if she had been directly in front of me:
You're not listening, are you?
I told you to tidy up!
Seriously? Tablet?
How times do I have to repeat myself?
I sound like a broken record
Luckily, I had a few moments before heading outdoors to take a few deep breaths or maybe 10. Hey, babes, I think you forgot something, I murmured as I approached her in the hallway.
Am I always this self-controlled with my children? Definitely not. I'm a work in progress, just like everyone else is. Yet, I make a conscious effort to be in touch with my children and myself throughout these times.
